The USD 232 Education Foundation recognized Bryan Lloyd Rosell, a visual arts teacher at Mill Valley High School, as the USD 232 Making a Difference Award winner for October 2024. This monthly honor, supported by the USD 232 Education Foundation in collaboration with Great American Bank, aims to recognize outstanding staff within the district who demonstrate an unwavering commitment to positively influencing the lives of students.
Mr. Lloyd Rosell was nominated for this award by a parent who shared his extraordinary talents as an engaged and supportive educator. As noted within his nomination,
“Mr. Bryan Lloyd may be a teacher by title, but – like so many teachers in our district – that doesn’t begin to accurately describe who Mr. Lloyd is. He is someone who truly makes others feel special and important on a regular basis is truly special themselves. I hope Mr. Lloyd has even a small sense of how much he’s impacting the lives of his students – and their families – by wearing all the hats he wears… and by wearing them so well.”
Mr. Lloyd Rosell is a new addition to USD 232 as the ceramics art instructor at Mill Valley High School. Before coming a part our district in 2023, Bryan had received numerous honors from his previous teaching positions including Outstanding Teacher of the Year at Cure of Ars school and the St. Ignatius Loyola Award for Excellence in Teaching, both in 2015; Outstanding Educator of the Year by students at Free State High School in 2019; and Best Secondary Teacher of the Year in the Lawrence Journal World’s “Best of Lawrence” in 2021 and 2022.
In recognition of his contributions as a remarkable educator in our district, Mr. Lloyd Rosell was presented with a $250 check from the USD 232 Education Foundation and Great American Bank. He also received a Making a Difference Award trophy, thoughtfully designed by CAPS students at Cedar Trails Exploration Center.
The USD232EF is currently accepting nominations for the next Making a Difference Award. Nominations will be received through the end of November 2024 with the next award being presented in December. Monthly entries are encouraged as new nominations are reviewed monthly.
