What is Debate?

Policy Debate is a competitive course in which students compete against other area schools at weekend tournaments.  Students debate on teams of two, and argue both sides of an assigned issue, or resolution.  This is a co-curricular class; students who sign up for the class, are signing up to compete on the team.  During the 2022-2023 season, students will debate the following: Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially increase its security cooperation with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization in one or more of the following areas: artificial intelligence, biotechnology, cybersecurity.
